Federation Rules for Full Contact (Chinese Kuoshu)

Etiquette:
Contestants enter the area when
instructed to do so by the Referee. When facing the Head table the
contestant in blue should enter from the right and the
contestant in yellow should enter from the left.
On entering the area the contestants
should salute the Head Table; then each other; and then prepare to engage on
the Referee’s commands.
Uniform:
·A Tee Shirt or Vest (Black preferred, Blue or
Yellow)
·A Sash (Blue or
Yellow)
·Chinese Martial Arts Pants (Black)
·Gum Shield
·Head Guard (with Face Protector)
·Groin Guard (with Abdominal
Protector)

Format:
Full contact
continuous. One referee and five corner judges.
Rounds:
Elimination:
·Three rounds of two minutes
duration.
·Thirty seconds rest between
rounds.
Semi Finals and
Finals:
·Three rounds of three
minutes duration.
·One minute rest between
rounds.
Points:
Three Points
·Forcing the opponent from
the area.
Two Points
·Executing a clean throw or
take down where the contestant executing the throw remains standing. Five
seconds are allowed to execute a throw. Three second for just holding the
opponent.
One Point
·Executing a kick to the
head, trunk or thigh of the body.
·Executing a punch or palm to
the head or trunk of the body.
·Executing a knee or elbow
strike to the trunk of the body (without holding the opponent).
·Executing a throw and
landing on top of the opponent.
·Awarded to a contestant
where the opponent falls through their own imbalance.
Non Scoring
·Striking with the knee or
elbow to the trunk of the body whilst holding the opponent.
·Falling with the opponent.
Illegal:
·Disobeying the Referee’s
commands.
·Biting, spitting or gouging.
·Striking with the head.
·Striking with the knee or
elbow to the head.
·Dislocation, and breaking,
of joints.
·Striking to any of the
following areas:
oEyes
oBack of the head
oSpinal column
oThroat
oGroin
oJoints (Knees or Elbows)
oInner thigh
Warnings:
The Executive Referee
may give a private or public warning, or disqualify a contestant depending
on the seriousness of a foul. Warnings are cumulative for each round of the
match.
Private:
Awarded for a minor
accidental infraction of the rules.

On advice from
medical staff:
·A contestant may be
disqualified if their opponent cannot continue following an offence.
·A contestant may be
discharged for excessive or uncontrollable blood loss.
Determining the Winner
The winner of two
rounds is declared the winner of the match.
The winner of the
round is determined by the majority decision of the corner judges.
The winner may also
be determined by the Executive Referee’s decision based on:
·Technical Knock Out (TKO)
based on determination that the contestant cannot or should not continue.
·Corner/Second ‘throws in the
towel’.
·Advice from Medical Staff.
·Contestant indicates no
desire to continue.
